In this artwork, I show how an AI’s representation of a person’s face changes after a machine unlearning algorithm is applied. The result is recognizable as a human face, but no longer identifiable as a specific individual. I carved holes into the image to represent the knowledge lost in this process. I filled these voids with pictures of amethysts (a gemstone abundant in Ametista do Sul, near my hometown in Brazil) symbolizing the space left behind by memory.

mathematics in Brazilian culture
Born in Recife in the 1920s, the cobogó architecture fuses passive cooling with tessellation. Each hollow brick acts as a discrete module whose geometry carves sunlight and channels breeze to naturally regulate temperature. Arranged on a structural grid, simple spatial rotations yield an infinite repeating pattern in tiling. This interplay transforms static masonry into beautiful patterns that generate shade, reduce thermal load, and turn passing light into a living geometric shadow within building interiors.
